A Note From Eydie...

My first two albums... Eydie Gormé and Eydie Swings the Blues were best sellers in record time. This would be my third and there was a lot on the line. Together with my guardian angel, Don Costa, we had to keep the momentum going...not an easy task, as rock & roll had already become the new genre for people even younger than us...we needed a theme.

As a new young artist... I was amazed to discover that so many of the songs I was singing on stage and on the great "Steve Allen Tonight Show" came from the era of "The Roaring Twenties," a decade unprecedented in American history, highlighted by the madness, the mayhem, the mob, but mostly the music...We had our theme.

As an interpreter of music and lyrics, which is my trademark, I naturally put my very own spin on the fabulous material we chose for this album, with the wonderful efforts of Don Costa and his genius in utilizing the talents of arranging colleagues in the project like Marion Evans and Jack Kane from Canada, and my buddy...
Buddy Bregman.

You might hear some "tongue-in-cheekery" perhaps or a gentle spoofing at times…meant only as acclaim...a tribute to the songsters of the times. So razz-ma-tazz and 23-skidoo...come on along and listen to...
The lullaby of Broadway.

Enjoy,

Eydie
