A NOTE FROM EYDIE

I was raised speaking spanish and a few other languages, and loved singing spanish songs in my personal appearances. Although I had some training as a translator at the United Nations, living in the Bronx, my every day conversational spanish left a little to be desired. Yet I was determined to record in spanish and english. What a challenge...not so rare today...but it was quite unique when I began this trend. I had to plead with my producers to go along. Thanks to Don Costa...they did.

As years went on, I was fortunate to meet and in many cases work with some of the great latin artists and composers. One of these was Arturo Castro, who came to Las Vegas from Mexico City and was appearing with his brothers in a casino lounge to standing room only crowds. His opening number was "Otra Vez." The music was original, contemporary, melodic and lyrically so poetic that Don Costa felt we were made for each other.

That is the essence of the "I Feel So Spanish"/"Otra Vez" compilation. Although recorded ten years apart, I thought it would make great listening.

Inside Note: The song, "I Feel So Spanish" was lovingly and humorously written for me by Don Costa and Bob Wells...because they knew I would never give up until I was known as a bi-lingual singer who was versatile enough to make it with ease...or fall on her ass in two languages.

Sincerely,

Eydie Gorme
